Michelle and Brad had contacted me about a maternity session. I suggested a nice beach location.

Michelle and Brad are an extremely loving couple. I loved working with them.

And this amazing shot. I was the crazy photographer shouting at the birds to fly. And it paid off. The birds flew and I got this great image.

I cannot wait to meet Michelle and Brad’s baby!

Welcome Home USS New Orleans

Homecoming|Military|USS New Orleans| San Diego, CA

It was a cool breezy morning as the USS New Orleans pulled into the pier. The Boxer ARG returned to San Diego, CA and was welcome home by several families and friends. After a seven month deployment everyone was happy to be home.

But there was one special boy who was super happy today.

This little boy was waiting for his daddy who he hasn’t seen since he was two months old. He’s such a precious joy and he loves to babble and play.

And the moment he saw his daddy, whom he loved to Skype with, his face lit up.

Wyatt: Senior Session

Senior Session| San Francisco, California and Fallon, Nevada

What happens when a photographer’s child turns 18 and graduating high school is around the corner? That photographer mom is ME!!

Wyatt1My oldest son Wyatt is graduating high school soon. He asked if he could come spend his spring break with me. I of course suggest we head to San Francisco, California.

Wyatt7 I do have to say the Golden Gate Bridge makes a good backdrop.

Wyatt9

Wyatt is a senior at Southport High School. He is a cross country runner. He is hoping to attend Purdue University to get his engineering degree and plans to join the Navy as an officer and perhaps BUDS.

Meet the Photographer

SONY DSCHi! I am the person behind the lens

I have been into photography since I was little kid and after suggestion from friends branched out into the professional photography world.

Currently located in San Diego, CA. My husband is in the military and we move around. We are both from Indiana and call it home.

DSC_2090I love the beach. I was happy to call Virginia Beach home at one point and Everett, Washington home at another. This photo was taken in California at La Jolla.

I love being a lifestyle photographer. Capturing images in your home or at a location of your choice. I do travel!

I am a digital and film photographer. I use 35mm and medium format film. I have several film cameras from a Nikon F100 to a Hawkeye. But my favorite is my Rolleicord. But shh don’t tell my Nikon lol.

DSC_2085 I have a love for sun flares. I also love double exposing film. Yes you can double expose on a digital camera but the excitement in film is in the not having the instant gratification of knowing what you did. You wait for the film to come back and see how the sun flare worked out or how that double exposure went.

EJ-1I love photographing our pets. This is one of our dogs Koda. But it is hard to get dogs to pose, don’t ask how long it took me to get this photo of him. Husky’s aren’t known to hold still lol they love to run.

Faerie2

I am creative. I love to knit. I joke with my husband I knit my clothes because he never buys me any. And I usually am impatiently waiting for yarn to arrive.

I collect Starbucks mugs. I love the one my friend sent me from Copenhagen. But majority of the ones I have are from the places I’ve been.

I love natural light, but I do have studio lighting. Portable lighting since I prefer to do newborns in their home where they are more comfortable.

I do births to. I love photographing a mama from pregnancy to newborn but especially capturing the birth. Those precious moments are easily forgotten especially when you are like me and have a teen turning adult. You wish they were a baby again.

I use a professional lab to print. I find using a professional lab gives better colors. I have used Target, Walgreens, and other places. And the coloring at the lab that I use is the best in my opinion. It’s the lab I use when I get my photos taken professionally or even when I hand my camera to my husband and ask him to snap a pic.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at elleljackson@yahoo.com

Hope to see you soon in front of my lens.

The Beauty Within

Handmade|Fallon, NV

I entitled this post “the beauty within” because I love making things.

Faerie2

It took me about 3 months to knit this Faerie jacket.

Faerie3.jpg

I wanted this jacket to represent me. But I didn’t do the calculations correctly and kept having to order more yarn. And with the snow storms is in the East Coast my yarn kept getting delayed. Thus why it took 3 months to finish the jacket. At one point my husband and I called it ‘the never ending jacket’.

Faerie6

But I am totally in love with this jacket. I set up a tripod and gave my husband directions on taking the images. I wanted certain images as the one you can see above.

I love being creative and being behind the lens. But this time I was in front of the lens.
